Repositioning an Iconic Urban Design Brand for Global Impact and Contemporary Relevance
As Brand Lead and Project Manager, the 2023 rebrand repositioned Gehl from an academic architectural practice to an engaging global strategy and design group—shifting from "people-first" to "life-centered" and reflecting its diverse team of international experts.
The visual identity refresh included a new logo using Studio 6 typeface for a bolder, more grounded stance; a warm, earthy color palette departing from the previous Nordic blue; dual typefaces (Studio 6 and Times Now) balancing approachability with authority; layered image guidelines reflecting "People, Place, Planet" at multiple scales; and abstract visual illustrations building on Gehl's iconic people-in-space drawings to show diversity in everyday urban life.
